Yumthang Valley

The stunning Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim

The beautiful Yumthang valley in northern Sikkim, this is an area that not many trekkers venture to, the journey to this wonderful place takes you through the Singba Rhododendron sanctuary, with its forests of Rhododendron hodgesonii with its giant leaves and peeling bark, thomsonii with its bright red blooms and campanulatum with its stunningly blue foliage and its lilac-pink flowers, so why not book a trek this year and visit this magical place

thanks dawa from bristol England

Hi Dawa
It’s difficult to put into words just how great the round trek was. It exceeded my expectations in all respects. It was the most spectacular, varied and hardest trek I’ve ever been on. From climbing up through the forest and dodging leeches , to beautiful sunrises lighting up the mountains which got closer with everyday of the trek. The path from Dhor from a particular favourite of mine as we walked the Singalila ridge dropping into Nepal. Feezing nights led to crystal clear mornings. Views of Everest and Kanchenjunga could only lift your heart. It’s why I went and the trek delivered. A lot of days it was difficult to know which way to look the views were that good.

Your team of guides, cooks, porters and Yak men were great. Not sure I’ll ever eat so well on a trek. The teams love of their work and the country was infectious. Thank you for putting such a good team together. Can you give a huge thank you to Dawa again from me. . It took a leap of faith to chose Dawa from a thread on a forum, one that I’m so glad we did.

If anymore trails open up in Sikkim I would be very tempted to return. So keep me posted.

Regards
Steve

PS Only two regrets. One was losing my much loved and lived in hat at the end of the trek. The other was not buying one of the rugs from the Tibetan centre in Darjeeling.

thanks dawa for an amazing round trek

Hi Dawa,

Thanks so much for such an amazing time on the Round Trek in the Sikkim himalaya.

The variety of terrain and challenging trekking in such a remote area was truely amazing.

Our guides were fantastic, looking after us very well and teaching us much about the local culture and traditions as well as flora and fauna of the landscape.

I felt I’d really worked hard by the end of the trip and experienced much of what Sikkim has to offer.

I would recommend this trek to anyone who’s looking for something a bit different, more remote and longer than the more traditional routes in Sikkim. The company is fantastic and you wont be disappointed!

Thanks again,
Beth
